易经姓名学 – 我的想法

Besides the character strokes calculation system (三才五格,以笔画为主) which is very popular in the last decade, there is also another system that is based on the Yijing (or I-Ching, 易经姓名学) which I have learned several years ago. Personally I really like this method, since theoretically; it is a very comprehensive and sound system based on the five elements, the eight trigrams and also the 64 hexagrams. For those who are not trained in the study of Bazi 八字, this method also lends itself to be a great alternative.

However, I eventually had to give up using it as it is not consistent with its results. Ideally, a good name in this system requires all three sets of hexagrams (主卦, 互卦, and 变卦) derived from the name, to be auspicious. When I applied the method to the Chinese names of many well-known celebrities as well as successful business magnates, to my dismay, it did not match the life of these people.

In Singapore, quite a number of people are using this method but as mentioned above, I personally do not recommend it.
Here are some examples below, whose names are almost or completely inauspicious 凶 even though these famous people are actually living a fulfilling and successful life.

郭富城 Aaron Kwok

甄子丹 Donnie Yen

王嘉尔 Jackson Wang (Kpop artiste)

郭鹤年 Robert Kuok (the richest man in Malaysia)

马云 Jack Ma
